According to the Automatic Sprinkler Inspection Bureau (ASIB):
All installations of 25 years of age or older or where there are obvious signs of corrosion must have sections of pipe removed for inspection and any defect that might adversely affect the performance of the system must be eliminated.

Preparing the Tank (Before)
Water from Tank 2 was pumped into Tank 1 to facilitate the refurbishment process. Scaffolding was erected to provide access to all areas of the tank, facilitating thorough inspection and refurbishment work. A portion of the tank’s roof was removed to allow for easy access to the interior.
Interior Tank Repairs (Before)
The complete interior of the tank was sandblasted to remove all existing coatings and rust. This step is crucial for creating a clean surface for the new coating to adhere to.
Exterior Tank Repairs (Before)
All rust on the exterior of the tank was removed to prevent further corrosion. All exterior piping was also thoroughly inspected and repaired where necessary.
Interior Sealing (After)
The interior of the tank after the initial repairs and cleaning. This stage shows the application of the first layer of polyurethane coating, providing a strong foundation for enhanced protection.
Sealing and Durability (After)
The interior was coated with two layers of polyurethane coating. This high-quality coating provides excellent protection against corrosion, ensuring a longer lifespan for the tank.
Priming and Coating (After)
The exterior was primed and coated with Plascon Roof Coat, applied in two layers. This protective coating enhances the tank’s durability and resistance to environmental elements. Once the refurbishment was complete, Tank 2 was filled with new council water, ensuring it was ready for use.
